Taiwan POW Camps Memorial Society
This site contains descriptions of the prison camps, a detailed list of all the former prisoners, an honour roll of those who died, and the story of the Taiwan POW Camps Memorial Society and its efforts to make sure they are never forgotten.
Over the past 28 years, the Taiwan POW Camps Memorial Society has located all 16 of the former Taiwan POW camps and documented their history. Several hundred of the former Taiwan POWs were contacted over those years and their stories recorded. Fifteen memorials have been erected at many of the other camps, including two in the UK and one in Hawaii. The Society has also been instrumental in working with the Taiwan government to build the world’s only Far East Prisoner of War
Memorial Park solely dedicated to the Far East Prisoners of War. It is located on the site of the former Kinkaseki POW Camp. Michael has also done a lot of research on the various hellships in Taiwan waters including the Enoura Maru story.
