Remained on the raft and disappeared before dawn.

Wartime Fate

Among the three men absent after the raft breakup; his ABMC Manila American Cemetery record identifies him as Missing In Action, entered from Utah, awarded the Purple Heart, and still without a rosette, while DPAA’s Utah WWII accounting list gives him as Non Recoverable from Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 3 in the Philippines with a date of loss of 22 January 1942.
