Hofuku Maru Tragedy
Join us for a solemn ceremony commemorating the victims of the Hofuku Maru, one of the most tragic Hellship sinkings of World War II. On September 21, 1944, the unmarked Japanese transport ship was attacked by Allied aircraft in Lingayen Gulf, resulting in the deaths of over 1,100 Allied prisoners of war.
This year marks the 81st anniversary of that tragedy.
