The July 2026 Hellships Memorial Foundation Newsletter Is Here!
We are pleased to announce the publication of the July 2026 edition of the Hellships Memorial Foundation Newsletter—our first quarterly issue and an important milestone as we continue our mission to honor those who suffered aboard the Japanese Hellships during World War II.
Inside this issue:
🏛️ Welcome Mark Kelso to our Board of Directors as Director of Descendant Affairs, bringing a deeply personal commitment to preserving the legacy of the Hellships.
🏛️Historic Discovery: Learn how the Foundation positively identified the wreck of the Hofuku Maru, finally solving an 80-year mystery and helping restore dignity to more than 1,000 Allied POWs who perished. This site is now recognized as a protected maritime war grave.
🏛️ Building the World's First Hellships Museum: Discover our vision for a combined Hellships Memorial Museum and SBMA Visitors Center in Subic Bay—a permanent home dedicated to remembrance, education, and maritime archaeology.
🏛️Mission Two – Shinyo Maru Project: Follow our return to Sindangan, Mindanao, where we will continue the search for the wreck of the Shinyo Maru while documenting the extraordinary courage of the Filipino families who rescued Allied POW survivors in 1944.
🏛️How You Can Help: Every donation, every shared story, and every word of encouragement helps preserve this remarkable history for future generations.
This newsletter reflects the incredible progress being made through the dedication of our volunteers, researchers, descendants, veterans' organizations, and supporters around the world.
Thank you for standing with us as we continue to Honor the Past, Preserve the Truth, and Inspire Future Generations.
